Lightening w/lemons safe?

I've been hearing that lemon juice is healthy for the hair and that it also lightens it. Are both of these statements true? Will I cause any damage by putting lemon juice in my hair? Last time i dyed my hair it got completely fried and I had to start all over w/a buzzcut... don't want that to happen again.

Lemons will lighten the hair slightly when activated by the sun. However, if your hair is dark it will just turn orange, not very natural. It also significantly dries out the hair.

I say that if you want long healthy hair, then be happy with what the Good Lord gave you in color. I am a firm believer that all those dying/bleaching agents are all counter-productive because I have been down that road in the past. Be happy with what you have and enjoy naturally healthy long hair. Peace!!!!!
