Solution for Faster Hair Growth...

Just wanted to let everyone know that yesterday I was at Walmart and I gave in to buying "Skin, Hair and Nails". A couple of people previously wrote me and one said he used "Skin, Hair and Nails", the other said he used Biotin and Vitamin B complexes. Well, before I purchased it, I looked at the ingredients and it basically was more Vitamin B complexes and Biotin. In fact, it's really just like a multivitamin pill, just with more stuff that is good for your hair (Biotin and Vitamin B). In case anyone is interested, you get 120 tablets and they recommend 3 per day, and it costs about $7.00 with tax. This translates to about $7.00 every 40 days. However, I always take a multivitamin and mineral pill anyway so my plan is to take only 2 of the "Skin, Hair and Nails" as well as my multivitamin and mineral pill. The ingredients and dosages appear harmless. There have been a few of us writing in on making your hair grow faster, so I'll let everyone know if this works for me. Years ago when I grew my hair out I took Biotin alone and it seemed to work, but hopefully the added Vitamin B complexes in "Skin, Hair and Nails" will give it an extra kick.
Incidentally, I saw the thread below regarding protein and amino acids, and as far as I'm aware, those only affect the strength and condition of the hair, not the speed at which it grows.
I'll be in touch...chow!

I am a trained hairdresser and I can assure everyone that there are no miricles to make your hair grow faster. THE ONLY WAY to make hair grow faster is by stimulating the bloodflow to the scalp. The only way to do this is to massage your scalp. If you regularly massage your scalp, then you will definately have faster growing hair, no extremes, but it will grow a little faster. Don't believe people or products that say it will make your hair grow faster, because it has never been proven that there is such a product. Vitamins, specialy vitamin B complex may improve the appearance of your hair and is also great for hair that is falling out due to stress, but it will not make it grow faster.
Thanks...

...for the comment. Maybe it will just give me more peace of mind :)
Having excercised for many years, I know there have been the same promises by companies who sell muscle-building supplements. However, there is some sense to those muscle-building supplements that seems principally the same with hair growth--I have had enough health training (American College of Sport's Medicine and college), as well as common sense, to teach me that if your body doesn't have what it needs (for building muscle, growing hair, etc), it won't do it, at least as efficiently. Therefore, I don't think it's illogical to give the body vitamins and minerals that are said to be good for the hair in the hopes of making growing more efficient, and therefore, quicker. I also understand that heat and massaging can increase blood flow as well, possibly permitting faster hair growth. However, I believe that by giving our bodies certain resources that are good for hair growth (like muscle growth with the assistance of a protein supplement), there's a chance hair can grow "more efficiently." Again, I appreciate the response, but I respectfully maintain my hope that the supplement will give me a little kick for quicker hair growth. Only time will tell. :)

It's tempting to try out B-complex vitamins, but I think the science points to them doing more harm than good. I'll see if I can find specific references and post a followup. I heard this on Dr. Dean Edell's talk show. If you've never heard him, you should know that he is a medical doctor who retired from practise. Now he does his talk show and keeps up with all the latest scientific journals.
Anyway, it was on his show that I heard that taking in vitamin B complex vitamins is good if they are taken in from natural sources, like vegetables. However, studies show that taking B complex vitamins rather than the veggies actually was counterproductive. It's probably because the B-complex vitamins especially are just that: complex. Minor, even, perhaps unknown vitamins may play an essential role. And you usually don't get these with pills.
