Dancing and long hair
Posted by Adi on October 09, 2002 at 05:07:15: Previous Next
Hi.
I've been growing my hair for about 13 months with trims in the back and behind the ears which makes my hair about mouth length at the front and chin length at the back.
I'm going quite often to dance(not heavy metal but more disco/rock n' roll/latin) and when my hair was shorter I just used gel to keep my hair in place while I dance but now even gel doesn't help and I'm winding up with hair flowing freely in the air and on my face while I dance.
Since ponytailing is not possible,I'd like to get creative ideas what to do or get recommendations on gels u know who can do the work on long hair(international brands only since I don't live in the USA).
Thanks,
Adi.

Adi,
I am a dance hobbyist and I compete in the American rhythm and smooth dances. I certainly know what you are talking about! When I wanted to wear my hair loose, but not get it all in my face, I didn't do a complete ponytail. I only gathered the hair from my bangs and temples and using a small rubber band the color of my hair, created a small "ponytail" that sat on the top of my head. That got the bothersome hair out of my face, and still gave the appearance of my hair being loose about my shoulders.

Let the good times roll! Give your locks the freedom they crave. When you dance, let your hair dance with you!!

As it gets longer it will become more of a tangle issue. Make sure that the skin on your neck and upper body is covered (collar), preferably with a "slick" type of material so the hair doesn't grab the fabric. When dancing, exposed skin will usually sweat and get sticky helping to tangle your hair. Try putting something like a laminate in your hair before dancing to make it a bit more slippery and less likely to tangle with other hairs right away.
