really long hair

i have hair thats about 4 inches from my waist but the troulbe is that the longer it gets the thinner it seems to be is this just because its not all the same lenth because of breakage or am i loseing my hair i dont have any bald spots or anything like that

i take it you are still growing your hair. at some point you had a 'last haircut'. you clipped to a uniform length hairs at various stages of their life cycle. hair normally drops out at the end of its life cycle. it will be replaced, and a few dropped out in your first year of growth but you didn't notice because most of it was still there. now that it's been long enough for your hair to near waist length much more of your hair has reached the end of its cycle & fallen so the original cut has become quite sparse. i may fill in with time and as your hair gets longer- but the longest bit will always be sparse.
