Some jerk pulled my Hair and beard

I am a leader in a boy scout troop I am 19. Last night some 17 year old kid comes up and pulls out a bunch of my beard and yanks on my hair because he thought it was funny. If I had of been in a non boy scout setting I dont know what I would have done. My hair is about 9 in aand my beard is aabout 6in. Yanking on it made some of it fall out. I am soo mad. Some times people just suck!

Sue the bastard! That's abuse, and just because you're in a boyscout setting does not make it acceptable. It would be no different from a manager feeling up a woman in the workplace; the later seems worse because the feminist movement has stressed a focus on sexual harassment, but unwanted physical contact like that is inexcusable in any setting, save you've given your permission to be treated like s**t. Don't downplay the loss: Not only did it hurt, but you yourself have reported physical damage. Issue a stern warning, and if the higher ups blow it off, seek legal advice immediately. Harassment is illegal in ANY kind of a setting.

Sounds like what my boss calls a "teachable moment." Since you are a leader, this is a perfect opportunity to teach this young man, and the rest of the scouts, about tolerance, respect, and personal boundaries. Perhaps you can speak to the offender in private about this issue, and schedule a scout meeting on the topic of tolerance.

The Boy Scouts and Tolerance?? I think that's an oxymoron. They're the ones who lost the major contributor to their funding, ( United Way), because they would'nt consider changing their stance on the gay issue. I don't think they know what tolerance is.

Dude, I have hair past my shoulders now, but a few years ago before I was blackmailed into cutting it, it was to my butt. I lived in Georgia at the time, and people would walk up to me and ask to touch my hair, or some even offered to buy it. Fortunatly now one yanked on it that I can remeber, except me when It got stuck in the car door. I am regrowing it that long again.
No offense but I am suprised that a right wing conservative fundamentalist group like the boy scouts actually lets you around the kids, because heaven nows you might corrupt them.

Sometimes my own friends would pull my hair like this, but I would get upset and tell them in a kind way not to do that again. They saw that I was angry and never did it again.
You should have told this kid that he can`t do that, so that next time he won`t pick on a long hair.

I saw that guy (the one who pulled my hair and beard) today and he said he was sorry. (But i think he was just saying that because his Dad made him.) I told him that I would let it go this time but if he say fit to do it again I might have to resort to being physicial. As to tollerance in Boy Scouts. They (the other leaders in my troop) pretty much have to not bother me because I am an Eagle Scout and they know I could make things pretty ugly for them if they asked me to leave or any thing like that. At least I have one other long hair iin the troop and he is also a leader. I do get frustrated with some people who were nice to me when Ihad short hair but have become mean since I have grown it out. One of these people told me I looked crummy a while back and I told him that my apperance was none of his buisness and that if he was so concerned with apperances he should loose some weight. -Billy
