We are struggling through about the same stage, I believe. Although I claim to be no expert with hair, I would advise AGAINST cutting your bangs: My guess is that as they grow longer, the extra weight that comes with length will help keep them in place when you part them aside. What's more, if the bangs get long enough, you can slick them to the back of your head.
What I am doing to endure this is as follows: If I wash my hair upon getting up in the morning, it'll be flexible enough that I can comb it aside and it'll stay there (for the most part). That sense of control goes away as the days without washing go by, and I refuse to gunk up my hair with gel or any other wacky crap. For the remainder of the week, I alternate between wearing a hat or bandana.

Absolutely do not cut your bangs, dude! That is one of the key points to long hair as far as I am concerned. Put up with it untill it is long enough to push behind your ears or you could get used to wearing a cap. Peace out, bro!
train it

I was always told that u need to "train" your hair. That means if you comb your hair with a part down the middle while its wet and let it dry that way for weeks, it'll start wanting to lay that way. Added weight of your hair makes it more manageable 2-don't cut anything on top.
Hope this helps!
