Horrible Choice..

Well, I had some pretty wicked looking hair in July. It was down to the end of my neck and just past my eyes and it winged out like it was on fire. Then my mom made me cut the hair. I asked to keep it long but just trim it and then it ended up losing every ounce of wing and she cut it straight. It looked like a helmet; especially with highlites. It used to be all one color but since it was cut it looked like a mangled checkerboard of color. To make matters worse it was layered on each side. Please help. I'm going for the Cobain look. Oh yeah, my hair grows forward a lot and It's hard to part it. O well, nothing a good lot of mousse can't do. Peace; reply.

Is mom a hairstylist? If not you may want to find someone who isn't going to "experiment" on your hair.

Actually, no. LOL. But she wanted it short because it was a "mess" in her opinion. I'm gonna dye it cobain red though; thought it would look pretty cool. It will be shoulder length by then... When hair is cut short, does it grow out in different lengths? If so, the longer it is the more different the lengths?

It will slowly become uneven as there can be a slight variation in growth as well as damage over time. You will want to plan to get it evened up every couple to several months to keep it neat looking.
Just tell whoever is working on your hair that you need a TRIM and your are going for maximum length so they will get the idea that you want it longer and not shorter.
