Annoying short hairs in front

My hair is pretty long since I've been growing it for 3 years. But the thing that bugs me the most is the short annoying hairs in the front. What is up with that. When I tie my hair back the hairs hang in front of my eyes. Its like that itchy feeling you get when you're in that awkward stage. Is it just me or is that a problem with everyone else?
I've been trying to find this answer for months. I'm always staring at the television for tips. I look at the girls because lets face it they know more about hair. The problem with this is they use hair products to sculpt their hair. I for one, never use hair products. I just hate the nasty sticky feel you get when you use it. So if any girl or guy knows the answer to this problem I have, please tell me. Thank you.

I have the same problem. When I tie mine back I have to use it little hair spray or gel to hold those shorter hairs in place. I don't like to do it but I haven't found a better solution yet.

Exactly.. those little hairs aren't going to get any longer, so yor best bet is to use a bit of gel to hold it in place. Sometimes even just water does the trick for a while.

I find that they do get longer... When i tie my hair back, i push all the shorter hairs to the front of my head, then part them either side of the center line, and push them behind my ears. The shorter hairs are just the result of loss/breakage afaik, and so there's no way to avoid them. I guess the short hairs else where on your head tend to get held down underneath the normal length hairs...

I'm sorry, bro, but I disagree. The majority the people I hang around with are longhairs, and baby hairs are part of each person's mane. I've been growing for nearly three years, and some hairs just dont get longer after a certain point.. You can find that out if the hair tapers to a point. If it does, then it never broke. I mean.. how can you explain the baby hairs on the bottom back of your head? Those are not hairs breaking, but hairs that have a short growing phase, so they stay short. Hairs dont break that easily, and they certainly don't break in chunks like baby hairs are.

I have the same problem. I use lots of water. I tie my hair back so much that those little hairs are pretty much trained to stay back

...in that I actually liked those little hang-downers in front. Of course they're gone now that those hairs are longer but I enjoyed them while they were there. Just tough it out if they upset you, I suppose. They won't be there that long.

I don't have quite the length u do-I've only been growing it 2 1/4 years, but I do have short hair on top and on the sides that seem like they're taking their good ol time at reaching my hair tie. What I do is just slick all my hair back with water after it's tied. It dries close to my head and looks all one length.

I heard these hairs referred to as feather hairs recently (by a girl, not that that makes a difference).
OK, so here's the macho guy answer: whenever this happens, like the palm of your hand and just smooth it back with the rest of your hair. If your hands are dirty, then spit on them instead.
Seriously, though, the reason this happens is that there is a transition between long hair and very short peach fuzz type hair at the hair line. It's those transitinal hairs that give you a problem. Simply wetting them can help temporarily, but if you want a more permanent solution, you will have to use a product of some sort (maybe just milk) or trim them. You may not want to trim them, though, because some of them are bound not to be transitional hairs but new fated-to-be-long hairs. You wouldn't want to trim those lest they never attain their length.
