WOW, is the awkward stage THAT bad?

Lasy year, junior year in HS, I had a friend who was growing his hair out (he was about 6 months ahead of me I think) he had pretty wavy hair and his hair had quite a bit of volume(although it wasn't frizzy or anything) well I hadn't seen him in about a year and today on my way to lunch I ran into him and WOW his hair looked SO nice. It was really straight and smooth, I asked him if he had straightened it or anything and he said no, and this guy smokes ALOT so I imagine that would somehow take a toll on his hair too. I'm not sure how long he has been growing his hair but I think it's almost two years since I'm at almost 15 months. This is the first time that I have seen someone in the awkward stage, then not seen them for a while and then ran into them and seen how their hair had turned out. Does the awkward stage really make that big of a difference in how the hair looks? Because I sure am amazed!

Yeah, agreed. I took really good care of my hair during the "awkward stage" and my hair is turning out really nice I think because of it. If you don't take care of your hair early, you'll wish you had. That's some great advice there. And regarding your friend.. That happened to me very recently as well. A guy I used to know from about 2 years ago and haven't seen since took a double take when he saw me. Jealous I think. ;o)

When I was in the Awkward Stage if I got caught in the wind or put a
hat on, or tried to fix it, or got up in the morning and looked in the
mirror, or even sneezed...then it was back to the caveman days for me.
Now that my hair is much longer, it behaves better...
except at night it always finds its way to the center of my face. aaaaaaaargh

My hair is ALWAYS in the awkward stage and I just live/love it! This, to me, is what long hair is all about. It's great!
