Next time a Christian criticizes you

You should mention that in several places the Bible explicitly encourages long hair on men, which is where Rastafarians actually derive their belief in not cutting their hair and letting it turn to dreadlocks (and btw I am not Christian but I am also not insulting anyone who is):
Numbers 6:5
All the days of the vow of his separation there shall no razor come upon his head: until the days be fulfilled, in the which he separateth himself unto the LORD, he shall be holy, and shall let the locks of the hair of his head grow.
Judges 13:5
For, lo, thou shalt conceive, and bear a son; and no razor shall come on his head: for the child shall be a Nazarite unto God from the womb
Samuel 1:11
And she vowed a vow, and said, O LORD of hosts, if thou wilt indeed look on the affliction of thine handmaid, and remember me, and not forget thine handmaid, but wilt give unto thine handmaid a man child, then I will give him unto the LORD all the days of his life, and there shall no razor come upon his head.
(I think there is another but I can't find it)
Christians don't criticise me...

PEOPLE do...
Some Christians I know would not even DREAM of talking about
my hair. They would rather focus on the type of PERSON I am
and how I treat others.
Myself...

I'm Christian, and I have long hair (well it's down to my shoulders at this point, but you know). I'm sure the God that I believe in uses more important things to determine whether or not a person's spirit is heaven-worthy than the length of his hair. That's like saying that someone who drives a black car must be a worse driver than someone who drives a red car. It's completely irrelevant! Conservative right-wing Christians are just trying to rationalize and justify their OWN PERSONAL, HUMAN narrow-mindedness. And they're failing.

Not to belabor the issue here, but it also says in Samuel that "God does not care about appearance, he cares about what is in your heart". Also, it's funny that the world is full of people who claim the right to be extremely vocal in criticism and extremely exempt from action. Why don't these supposibly Catholic-like people tell women they can't have short hair, and that they can't have authority over a man? And why do people like this judge others---Catholics/Christians know (or should know)that the ONLY one who can judge is the ONLY one without sin, Jesus!!!

There is a reason Paul wrote to Corinthian Christians and discouraged them from having long hair.
it was because they were to remain separate from the immoral nations. And back then that meant LOOKING different too. If you will recall, the old mosiac law required all sorts of crazy appearance rules.
So the point is not that God hated men with long hair, he was just reminding them of their need to stay seperate.

Next time a Christian critizes you, point them to the Bible and let them know that JESUS says to first cast the log out of your own eye before attempting to get something out of someone elses.
People spend WAY too much time trying to tell others what to do and how to live. Be yourself. YOURSELF is all you KNOW you have when it comes right down to it. If YOU like your hair long, wear it long. Just keep it clean. :)
