Trying to grow my hair out but need help

I use to get a tape up and have the rest of my hair like 1 1/2 inches long. I havent cut for a little over 3 months and now it is getting a little longer. Bangs are almost 4 inches long. I want to keep my hair back and almost completely flat. What kind of hair pomade or whatever should I use to keep it down. Also, since i use to get a tape up, part of the back of my hair is uneven with the rest so the overlapping hair kinda sticks up in the back. Should i consider getting my hair evened out or what.

No !!! The best way to grow your hair is not to cut it.

I am wanting long hair again. I use to have really long hair, way down back, and I cut it. It was the worst mistake I ever ever made. It is a little longer than my shoulders, but I want it much longer. I have extremly dry natural curly hair. So of course it doesn't help that the curl makes it look shorter. I wish someone out there knew something to help hair to grow long. Any ideas out there? THanks and good luck with your hair!!
