It gets better every day.

I am now at the eight month stage, six months since my one ill-advised trim. I won't post progress pictures this month because there isn't *that* much visible difference from last month. The biggest change is that my bangs (the shortest part of my hair) are becomming more manageable. For the past month I've been oscillating between excessive gel to keep my bangs under control and no gel but having my bangs keep poking me in the eyes (they get trapped behind my glasses). Finally even without gel my bangs are now spending more time resting on the arms of my glasses than poking me in the eyes. Each day from now on will be better in this regard. The rest of my hair is comming along, the sides are almost to the bottoms of my ears, and the back dangles well over my shirt collars. I have given up trying to tuck the sides behind my ears. It wouldn't stay even with heavy gel so now I just let it cover my ears. It looks a bit like one of the Duke brothers (from Dukes of Hazzard) but at least it stays that way. Now I'm learning that constant experimentation on constantly changing hair is a part of the long hair growing process.
Today it was lightly raining in my town. As I entered a store I looked in a handy mirror and - surprise - my non-gelled hair was *still good*. Nothing out of place, no goofy poofiness. Woo hoo! It really does get better every day.
I like that...

Gel is a nice helper but it's nice when you don't have
to be so dependent on it!

I have been learning the same and it is quite fun! Experiments now never end........but something good always seems to emerge. "Shappy Chic" is the "in" decor these days. (Anything "distressed looking goes.") So perhaps the "Awkard Stage" is actually of highest honors and much sought after? Ha ha ha............just the other day someone took a pot-shot at me and asked me: "What style do you call your hair?" My answer was "Shappy Chic!" (And that took care of her.) Glad you are enjoying as am I. Good luck!
