Interesting Compliment

The other day I received a compliment about my hair. The lady in question remarked about the blonde streak going down the back of my head and asked if it was natural or if I had dyed it. Well, this just struck me funny, because it is not a blonde streak at all. It is a grey streak. But since it's mixed in with my brown hair, it does, indeed, look blonde. Anyway, she said she really liked it.

: The other day I received a compliment about my hair.
Great ! I look forward to receiving similar (I'm going grey, especially at the sides). I've also noticed a strange phenomenon with my hair (which is logical when I think about it) - it looks browner at the ends than at the roots. I think some follicles have banded together with a grudge - but not as bad a grudge as the ones at the front who've run away from home for ever (last seen heading towards the plughole).
Any other oldies out there ? (Rokker must be). Sometimes I click on photo links on this site and realise that I'm old enough (40) to be the dad of some of the guys. My sons (15 and 14) are rebelling against me by looking conservative !
Also, thanks Victor for your work on this site. An inspiration.

Yep, another old guy here. Turned 40 last month.
I have my fair share of grey. I manage it by doing color touch-ups here and there every now and then. I don't eliminate the grey, but I keep it under control. My hair has a very natural look as a result. I have brown with grey streaks here and there. Almost looks like highlights. Many people think I've added the grey to my natural brown. I guess it's because I still, even at 40, have a younger look. Most people think I'm early 30s.
My grey is a very "pretty silver" color (that's what I'm told). A lot of people have encoraged me to stop doing the color touch-ups and let it go grey because it's a very "pretty" shiny silver grey color.
I'm not ready for that yet.
And speaking of conservative kids...my generation was long haired kids with short haired parents. The current generation seems to be the opposite in many cases. When I was a kid, I don't recall seeing any parent with long hair. These days it's not that uncommon to see a long haired dad with short haired kids...and the kids want it short. When I was a kid, no kid wanted short hair.
I suspect the next generation will be like mine. The wheel keeps on turning. Kids seem to want to be different than their parents I guess.

One of my little cousins had the greatest brown curls, very, very nice, down to his shoulderblades. At age four, he had never had a haircut. His mother died and his father fairly ran to the barbershop to have the locks that his mother so loved lopped off. I saw him at the funeral and wept more for the loss of the gorgeous hair than for an aunt who was not particularly well known to me. The sad part was that the kid didn't *WANT* it cut. May he rebell with gusto as he ages!

As it turns out, I'm one of those longhaired parents (43) with short haired kids (at least, my son--both daughters have long hair). And, my hair is still completely its original color, brownish blond. The only gray I have is one hair in my goatee. The genes are favorable to this.

I'm also forty. I've had some grey in my beard for years but so far my hair is staying one color. It is nice to have a variety of ages present. I am also surprised at the young age of some of our fellow long-hair regulars. It is nice to see young guys thinking for themselves and undertaking something like growing hair that requires a multi-year commitment.

I am one of the oldies. I am 47 and have never had long hair before now. As you can see in the picture (see link below) there is a LOT of gray in my beard. What you cannot see in that picture is that I have graying temples. Now that my hair is long, the hair from my temples has formed gray locks that frame my face in pale silver (it really stands out against the predominately black hair that remains)
Wow...

When gray hairs blend with certain hair colors, they DO look blond!
I have a 'group' of grayish hairs that have banded together and
now look blond...even to me! I think it can make a head of hair more interesting...
going grey

just several days ago my friend noticed a tiny grey hair on me. it is my first one(that i know of), and it happens to be in my beard in front of my chin. hurrah. i'm finally going grey, and i'm only twenty. of course, it may take a while. i hope my blond hair gets to terminal length first, so i can see what it looks like, and then grey. :)

You're in a HURRY to have grey hair? Whoa!
I remember when I began getting grey hair. I loved it. But now that I'm 40, I don't want it anymore!
