Ive been growing since last May, the front goes almost to my chin and the back reaches to the bottom of my collar... the thing is, the hair just above my sideburns and ears doesnt seem to be growing, it's stil about an inch at best.. is this normal? its not a big patch or anything but still im intrigued if its just an area that grows a lot slower..
Im so close to getting the front into a ponytail its killing me... about an inch or two more.... but admittedly i do have a stage about every two months where i go 'alright.. im gonna cut it.. its shitting me' then i think i shouldnt.. accompanied with threats from all my female friends of what will happen if i cut my hair...

I don't know if it's normal but my hair does exactly the same thing. I've been growing for 28 months and the bits above my ears are still very short (I've had no cuts/trims at all). I thought it might be because I'm old (40)and the hairs have given up trying (like the receding ones at the front. GRRrrrrrr!) There are times when it can look a bit mullety but acceptance is the key - if that's what your hair does then that's what it does.
PS There isn't a mullet-wearing trailer-residing sub-culture in the UK so it's less of a problem here !
Good luck
I think so

Yea my hair is mid back abouts, and the hair above my years is like 2 inches. only a small amount of that hair though, right above it, its much longer. But that hair is tucked behind my ear, so I dont notice. I have been puting it behind my ear for so long, it is bent like that and always finds it way there. So no big

Sounds kind of interesting. What kind of haircut did you have before you started growing it long? That might have something to do with it. People with an undercut experience this phenomenon.

Very interesting ....
I know the question wasn't directed at me but for years I had a tidy corporate hair cut which was buzzed above the ears and round the back (we're back in the 80's here). Maybe those hairs above the ears never recovered.
