Wig wearers

Are there any secret wig wearers here? - now I dont mean the $100 off the shelf efforts which quite frankly, most people can spot a mile off, but a professional, undetectable wig costing $2,000 or more.
At 32, I would love to have long hair but baldness means growing my own is not an option - so I have had a 22in wig made. You have to look really close to see it's a wig and will stay securely on in a force 9 gale. I can run my fingers through it and style it just like ordinary hair and it's not too thick which is a fault of most cheaper hairpieces. I haven't yet made the transition from short-hair to long-hair, just waiting for the right moment and a bit of courage!
I would be interetest to hear if there are any other wiggy long hairs (!) either part or full time.

My best friend is a "wiggy long hair". He loves it and it looks good on him.

I had a fake beard once when working for the CIA. Does that count?

The pics shown say it all. I've been wearing an "undetectable" $1,000 hairpiece since November 02 to cover my balding top. For the whole story, e-mail me personally. The regulars here know all about it.

Yes, your story is pretty much mine too. Hair doesn't grow much, always wanted it to be long but it never gets there. I'm part time now but if I were able to find the 'perfect' wig I'd do it full time in a heartbeat.
I'd be interested in hearing from you-- where you ordered your custom wig, for example. I'm always on the lookout for something better than I've already got. Looking for long, straight, mid-back, with the daytime 'ponytail option', and definitely a lace front.
Click on my name above and drop me a line sometime (r_dhair@yahoo.com).

I have quite a number of "off the shelf" wigs that look pretty good, but they are in the $250 - $300 range. They range from chin-length bobs (my favorite short style) to one-length to my butt. (My own hair is a bit longer than mid-back)
I've been in a "Scully" mood lately so my recent purchases have been in the red colors. I have worn them all out in public and it seems to me that they always "pass" for real, so the price break may be around $200 or so for believability. These are name brands (Rene of Paris, Raquel Welch, Revlon, etc.).
The bobs draw more looks but I think that that is because this style is (unfortunately) less acceptable on men. In fact, I have noticed that ANY styling draws more looks. A few years ago I had straight-cut bangs with my own long hair and that got more looks than when it was all one length. Several years ago, when my hair was trimmed even to one length below my waist, I had feathered-back bangs cut (a combination popular among long-haired girls at the time), and that REALLY drew stares. It is a shame that society still discourages us from wearing any style we want.
I have had the most compliments when wearing either my long, dark wig or clip-on extensions under my own hair, either reaching below my waist. Women have said to me how good it looks.
I think the bottom line is that wigs pass FAR more easily than you probably think! Making your 'transition' with friends, etc., might be the tough part, but heck you only live once. I would advise you try it first in an anonymous situation like I do all the time (I visit the wig shop in another city, wear it out of the store and then cruise a mall and get lunch at a Pizza Hut). That will show that only your friends will really know... and, who cares?
If you want to see some of mine go to the link below to the Yahoo! Group "menwhowearwomenswigs". You may have to "join" the group to view all the dozens of photos I have posted but that just takes a minute to do.

You mentioned clip on extensions in your message. I've though about extensions but I've heard the are expesive and very risky, but the clip on idea interest me as it may be my only hope for having butt length hair. My hair is currently about 4" past my shoulders after 3 1/2 years
