This is normal, it should die down a bit after a years growth, then probably dissapear after a while
One of many crazy stages...

... in the awesome quest for long hair! You will be fine, dude. In a year or so the gradual added weight will eventually lay it down and the curls will disappear. Don't go and do something crazy like trim them back, because all this will do is prolong the growth process and when it does grow back it will just be curled up again. Now that my friend is a never ending battle untill you finally leave it alone. The reason I am saying this is because my hair does the exact same thing. In the past years when I have attempted to grow long hair but miserably failed, these are the kind of crazy things I kept doing. Which in turn is why I always failed at growing long hair. Not this time though, I am going to try and just forget about my hair for the most part and let good ole mother nature do her thing and stay the heck out of her way. That is the best a guy can do when growing long hair. Good luck! It sounds like your well on your way, man. Peace!

Mine is also straight and I have been having the same experience. But, I am a little ahead of you in length and can only comment as to what has all of a sudden happened in my case: the hair is really starting to do its thing with the "curling and flips" vanishing, not completely............but over only the past month I would say 85% improvement! I know everyones hair is different, but to me it has been a bit astonishing to see what appears to be the end of this phase happenning "all of a sudden." Wonder if anyone else out there has noticed the same when going through the "Awkward Stage?" Good luck, but I would advise against any cutting.
I hear ya!

I don't know about it getting any straighter (although I'm led to believe that the extra weight that comes with growth ought to hold it down, making it seem straighter), but I can definately relate to your experience. I started growing in February 2002, and haven't gotten any trims since, and my hair has very much remained in that same state.
A month or two ago, I took a photo to illustrate my experience with curlage. Check it out if you wish, at:
