Shouldn't you be suspicious of something called a "Japanese Straightening System"? I can't picture a big market for straightening in Japan where anything other than straight hair would like be a perm.

scarlett--where have you been? The Japanese system is really big right now, works great from the before/after pictures I've seen. From what I've read you have to be sure todeep condition once a week. It changes the actual makeup of your hair follicles to straight or something, so i'm pretty sure it's straight even when you get out of the shower.

I had the process done. It is really amazing and I recommend it. From what I understand, there are a few different products that can be used for this process. The product the salon used on me is called CHI. The only complaint I have is that I had to go back for a "touch up" because some parts of my hair were slightly wavy at first. Besides that, I think the CHI system is awesome. It smells great and my hair is shiny and looks in great condition. After I take a shower, my hair is straight, but I still blow dry it just to make it go in the direction I want it. It stays straight and frizz-free even in the worst humidity.
