Indian Nation Pow Wow...

These events are incredible and there is one going on at the local park here in Taylorville, Illinois this weekend. I went to my first Indian Pow Wow last year at the same location. I like the dancing and craft shops, but most of all, there is plenty of long hair going on with these great people. There are also short haired Indians who in my opinion broke one of the greatest indian traditions by cutting their hair, but that's alright. Still enough long hair to keep me interested. I have to work tomorrow, but Sunday I'll get my fill. Thought I would share. Anyone else here ever been to one of these events? Peace!

Yes, I've been to quite a few, and I really enjoy them. Good eats, great crafts, and above all, the comradery and kinship that comes with gathering to honor our ancestors and our sacred traditions. Whoops! All my post didn't go through... Long hair is not universal amongst Native Americans. I'm approximately one-quarter Cherokee, and Cherokee men traditionally shaved or plucked out (OW!) their hair, leaving only a small tuft of hair on the crown of the head. Re: Indian Nation Pow Wow... I have been to two of them so far and if we can afford it my wife and I might go to it this year. I am half Crow Indian so many of my relatives live in the area and I was born in Crow Agency. The main attraction at The Crow Fair is the dancing but there are booths with such things as jewelry, crafts, food and I even bought a Native American Indian heavy metal group (Blackfire: http://www.blackfire.com) CD at a booth selling CD's and cassettes. From the two times I have been to this I have seen lots and lots of long hair on both ladies and men. Ooops, wrong URL In Reply to: Re: Indian Nation Pow Wow... posted by JerryS on May 21, 2003 at 07:16:26: Sorry, the correct URL should be: http://www.blackfire.net
I really like your website, by the way.
