This is my first time posting, although I've read others posts off and on for a little over a year. Thanks for the support!

My question is:

Have any of you noticed a profound difference in the way that people treat you with long hair compared to short hair?

I’ve had short/medium length hair all of my life, up until this past year.

Personally, I think I’m more attractive with short/medium length hair. But I feel better having long hair.

With short hair, people tend to be disrespectful. When there is a problem, I'd really have to express anger/annoyance for the effect to come across. And even with great stress and tremendous effort, I would mostly be ignored. With short hair, being ignored by nearly everyone (strangers in public, clerks and waitresses, close friends) is the most noticeable problem. Overall respect is greatly diminished -- almost non existent with short hair.

With long hair (just shoulder length/bangs down past chin), people take notice, girls look at me with interest and without that stuck up attitude. People are nearly always respectable. More people talk to me and people are tremendously more kind and considerate. If I ever get annoyed, I barely have to show it for someone to take notice, and listen. Now, when I get mad (which isn’t very often), I’ve actually had people stop in their tracks and start to back up. But I don’t think it’s just a fear thing. Overall, people listen to me, show interest, and actually hear what I’m saying. People have told me I look more approachable with longer hair.

I have naturally curly/wavy hair.

On the negative side, I did notice that security personnel do tend to look at me more too. But no more than everyone else is.

The worst comments I’ve heard is someone mention in a very neutral quiet voice, “hair”, or “oh look, hair”, but that was more toward the end of the awkward stage.

If I had known I would have been treated this good, I’d have had long hair my whole life!

I’ve read posts about what people have said to those with long hair, but how differently are you treated?

How much more respect do you get with long hair?
