ok Ive been a lurker here for a while, checking up and reading posts from time to time, but anyways Ive been growing my hair out for like 2 years, I just started using aussie around new years this year, great stuff... and I came here yesterday and read about them changing the formula, so I decided to look up some stuff on Ammonium Lauryl/eth Sulfate and Sodium Lauryl/eth Sulfate and I read some crap that really really scares me and makes me never want to let a single bit of drugstore shampoo ever touch my head again...
but mostly I was just wondering how bad they really are? like how much damage do they really do?
Not to worry...

There was a post on this board sometime around a year ago I remember(I think it was HairReligion who posted it) that made me think and made a lot of sense. He wrote how you see all these women out there in your day to day life who have beautiful healthy long hair. Now we all know that these women, with how particular women can be, subject their hair to all sorts of shampooing, conditioning, combing, brushing, toweling, hairdrying, etc, etc on a daily basis. But yet they still have healthy long hair. And you know not all those women can afford the best stuff. They use what we use cause women are also echonomical creatures as well as we are. Use your Aussie shampoo and conditioner. That's what I use. Just be gentle and go on with life living healthy. The best thing a person can do for their hair is to keep the rest of the body healthy with vitamins. If your health suffers, your hair health suffers right along with it, it's not from the shampoo you use(though some lower budget shampoos can be considerably damaging). Let the hair grow and go on with life as normal. Hope this helps! Peace!

hmmm yeah that is something Ive thought about, I know ALOT of girls that use things that Ive heard are far worse than what Im using... but I dunno, I think part of it is that Ive worried about losing my hair for a long time and I think my hairline is starting to recede and Ive read that some of these chemicals can contribute to that, but I dunno... but yeah I know alot of girls that do horrible things to their hair...
as for vitamins what would you suggest? Ive taken GNC's mega men for a few months and it seems pretty decent, but is there anything you would recommend over that?
Vitamins a definete plus...

I take One Source Multi-Vitamin/Multi-Mineral Adult High Potency one a day suppliment. I got it at Wal-Mart. It sounds to me like you have something pretty good there though. GNC is a good store with a good reputation, so you won't go wrong there. As long as it has all the vitamins and minerals a body needs you'll do pretty good. For hair you'll want to look for B-vitamins, biotin and zinc to be in the ingredients. Plus all the basics such as A, C, D, E, K, calcium, magnesium, potassium, etc. I noticed after taking this suppliment for a few weeks or so that my fingernails started growing like wildfire. Very noticable increase. That is a good sign, because if the fingernails increase in growth rate, that means the hair has also, no doubt. Plus, daily suppliments just make you feel so much better all around. With the way people eat anymore these days, most people probably need to be taking suppliments anyway. I'm glad I am. My biggest problem in the past was remembering to take them every morning, but now I have a fool proof schedule where I remember them all the time, so I'm doing pretty good. Keep in touch, bro! Peace!
