Hi,
I’ve lurked long on this board, but let me introduce myself. I’m a 50something guy, balding and graying - but that’s just a part of life, you get used to it and I don’t let it stop me from enjoying my hair. I’ve always leaned toward long hair, but never grew it really long, just sort of shaggy, the longest I went before without a haircut was 8 months. Today it’s 11 months and 1 week since my last haircut. It covers my neck and is creeping down my back and I love it. The way I feel now, I never want to get a haircut again. Sorry I don’t have pics yet, but I’m going to shop for a digital camera and increase my software savvy. I can tie it in a ponytail, but don’t think I’m going to do it yet, cause it’s just barely a ponytail and makes me look less neat. All is not heaven, at the length it is now, it doesn’t go well with my shirt collar which teases it into a messy tangle.

It’s been about 8 months for me though my hair was about 2” when I stopped cutting. The hair in the back is definitely getting there and I do put it in a tail because of the heat. 50 something here as well with completely gray hair. I think I’m starting a trend at work. Some of the other older guys are getting kind of shaggy.

Good luck - keep on growing. I'm 48 and have lst a lot of hair on the top, but what I do have I have not even trimmed for 9 years.
You'll probably not be able to grow yours to the floor, but then maybe you don't want to, and it won;t be long before there's enough to make a worthwhile tail which will look distinctive, neat and tidy.
I think that the 50+ longhair gives a message of being young at heart - "don't write me off, I'm not finisged for a long time yet".

Thanks for the affirmation. Older guys with long hair sometimes have problems. I get comments, but on the whole can't complain.
One story - I was out of town recently (in NY) and I was taking the elevator to my hotel room, and two young guys in suits got on. As the elevator started up again, Guy 1 said: "When I get old, I wish I could grow hair like that." Guy 2 said, "I'd like it now."
I'm going on a trip again, but will be back for the one year anniversary (June 17) of no haircuts.
