Japanese Straightening...I DID IT!!

So I just wanted to share my experience with the Yuko Systems Japenese Straightening. I had it done on Friday and it came out amazing. My hair is naturally VERY wavy and course. I've had it chemically straightened in the past (about 5 yrs ago) and that did nothing relatively and left my hair kind of fried.
The Yuko Systems worked unbelievably!! I had to wait until today to wash it. Usually if I tried to blow dry it...even with tons of product...it would still turn into a frizzy afro. A little leave in conditioner and voila! If your hair is wavy and it drives you nuts - but you still like it long, give it a shot. It's worth every penny.
Oh...by the way it takes about 3-4 hours and costs about $350 US.
Dave
congratulations!

I'm scheduled for Tuesday to get a Bioionic one. Its similar to Yuko in price and quality. Mine will be 250 and the rules are the same as for yuko. I have curly hair that has been colored in the past and I was told that this relaxer (technically its a retexturizer, not relaxer) improves the condition of the hair, instead of damaging it like regular systems. The price is totally reasonable if you look at the benefits- I'll post the results after I wash my hair on Friday-

I am planning on having the japanese relaxer done this Sunday. Like you, I also have curly hair. Unfortunately, mine will cost about $600. Please let me know if the hair process is worth paying for.Thanks.

Not really... all the picutures I have ever posted have been with a blowdried hair of, head, actually, the one in the profiles site, is with blowdried hair, but I'll post in my photo album, one of my hair, the day before... I'll take it tomorrow, then I'll post another when I come back from the little trim I get 3 days after my Bioionic thing. I seriously hope it works, because... well, I'm just fed up with curls.
OUCH!

Sorry, I'm getto.
Do you know how much time it would take me to make $350? I could buy my kids some clothes, then buy me some!!!
I would rather work with the hair god(dess) gave me....
If I met a guy who had some shaggy hair and he said he was trying to grow his hair long, I would be soooo interested...I'd want to support him from that point!
What you guys don't understand is: There ARE girls out there who like a guy with long hair.
It's not just the long hair, it's the "I don't care WHAT society thinks" attitude (Ok, I also like to wrap that hair around my fists during....;-P)!!!
It's not just hair. It's a life choice. A symbol of what you represent.
And it can wrap around a girl's fist....

Ok well I am a certified Bio-Ionic Retexturizing Technician and my input is this: while Japanese hair straigtening sounds bizarre, only if you truly know Asian hair and the reason it's called Japanese would you understand. I DO:-) here goes- the ionic element originates in Japan (ionic meaning the new "magnet" craze of the millennia)however as "hokey" as it may sound it works!!! As far as the Asian hair type goes, Asians while seeming to be straight can often be very coarse and unruly and in need of serious taming. Here's where the product comes in. The product I work with shows amazing results, in so far as to say the hair integrity is actually improved after use. It lasts as long as it takes for YOUR hair to grow back out and the curl pattern is noticeable. The hair that has been processed is permanently straight unlike a permanent wave. I would be happy to answer any further questions you have:-))

Does anyone know how about the use of anti-depressants when undergoing this process? I've had conflicting reports from different salons, saying you need to be off the medication anywhere from five weeks to four months for it to work. I don't want to pay the $125 for a test strand if there is no chance it is going to work.
Thanks.

Hi,
I am anxiously wanting to get this procedure done to my hair. I have tried every product out there, i.e. Nexus, Biosilk, etc. but my hair remains wavy and course. I have read a good amount on japanese hair straightening and it sounds to good to be true. However, I have two concerns, I have had my hair relaxed in the past (which was a mistake) but it has been a year since I had it done. Secondly, I am 8 months pregnant and would like to get it done before I have my baby since I know I won't have 4-5 hours to sit in a salon with a newborn. My doctor said as long as the salons are well ventilated it is ok. Do you think it is safe to get it done now or should I wait? Thanks.

Hi!
Although I'm not a hairdresser, I have given birth twice so would send a caution your way, Sofia. For some reason unknown, pregnancy can make your hair unpredictable in how it responds to chemical treatments...i.e. perms don't take, etc. My wavy hair usually takes a perm beautifully but when I tried during pregnancy it fell out within a week (my hairdresser confirmed that pregnancy/hormones were the culprits). As expensive as this process is, you might want to wait until after the baby is born and your hormones are back to normal before having it done rather than risk a bad result. It's just one of those pregnancy things like the fact that our feet get bigger and our eyesight can change during pregnancy. Believe me, after a few weeks, you will be ready for a day of pampering at a hair salon! Good luck! MA

dont even know how i got on this website but i am seriously considering the straightening treatment you are referring to. i have had a chemical relaxer before and it basically fried my ends and i had to cut about 6 inches off my hair. i keep my hair long and im constantly blowing it out and looking for a product that stands up to humidity and just forget it if i go swimming or go on vacation. my question is when you jump out of the pool your hair dries STRAIGHT? and it doesnt look fried? it honestly looks smooth and straight with no blow dry or round brush? it sounds too amaZing to be true. someone write me back and tell me what you think....sixerschick@hotmail.com

Hi. i am very interested in getting the japanese straightening treatment for my hair. i was just wondering what happens when it grows out. i have very wavy hair naturally and i would hate to be stuck with a head of hair that is half frizzy and curly and half gorgeous and straight. if you could let me know what you do with yours now that it is somewhat grown in it would be greatly appreciated. thanks!

Hi, Im 13 and my hair is relaxed with "no-lye" and I was wondering about the japanese straightening and if I could get it straightened even though its relaxed. I have heard that its safe for people with "no-lye" relaxers. Is that true? And when you get your hair straightened...can you ever use a curling product and make it wavy or will it always be pin straight?

To Whom It May Concern:
If you had the Japanese Straigtening done back in October 2002 and you have 4-5 inches of "grow out", can you have a body wave or perm done for a change? In other words can a body wave or perm chemicals touch the hair that has been previously straightened? Do I have to grow it out? My hair grows slow. I absolutely loved the Japanese straigthening but I would like a different look now. I want big curls and body. I do not know the exact name of the product that was used on me I only know that it was the first one that came out.
I would appreciate your opinion.

I had my hair permed last week, only a month after the Yuko, as I didn't like it. I went to one of the most experienced hairdressers in Yuko in the UK but the perm hasn't taken, dropping after only 3 days. The hairdresser wants to do it again, saying that it will be fine, but another hairdresser who knows a bit about Yuko was amazed that it the first hairdresser had permed over the top and said that I would 'go away with my hair in a bag' if I had it permed again, so I'm not sure what to do. Hope that this is oof some help to you.

So are you saying, then, that if your hair was "magic straight"- treated you cannot make it wavy or curly until the treated part of your hair grows out???

I have frizzy and wavy hair. i am thinking of getting a Japanese Perm, but i don't know if its right for my hair. I have never colored, permed or relaxed my hair before. Would the japanese perm damage my hair, would my hair start to fall even more, because my hair do fall now. With the japanese perm would i ever have to blow dry my hair, for example would my hair still be straight even after a wash, without using any products.

Ok well I had my hair done on Friday and it came out really nice. My hair is naturally very wavy/curly. I was kind of skeptical about having it done because I'm so used to having the option of going curly and straight. Well...3-4 hours later..my hair was pin straight! I couldn't believe that all I had to pay was $160.00..and this is NO LIE! People of all types were coming from everywhere to this little salon...and their work is amazing. It's in Woodside Queens and it is called Hair Village. The owner's name is Minnie and the prices range from $150-220..depending on the damage you may have to your hair. I defenitely recommend this place, rather than spending $500 and up to do the same exact thing. They used Liscio to straighten my hair..and I have to say I am VERY satisfied. If you want any more information..please feel free to email me.

HI, I DID IT AND I STILL NEED TO BLOW IT AND USE THS FLAT IRON, I THINK INEED TO GET IT DONE ANAIN, BY SOMEONE BETTER,,, HOW LONG SHOULD I WAIT....
: : So I just wanted to share my experience with the Yuko Systems Japenese Straightening. I had it done on Friday and it came out amazing. My hair is naturally VERY wavy and course. I've had it chemically straightened in the past (about 5 yrs ago) and that did nothing relatively and left my hair kind of fried.
: : The Yuko Systems worked unbelievably!! I had to wait until today to wash it. Usually if I tried to blow dry it...even with tons of product...it would still turn into a frizzy afro. A little leave in conditioner and voila! If your hair is wavy and it drives you nuts - but you still like it long, give it a shot. It's worth every penny.
: : Oh...by the way it takes about 3-4 hours and costs about $350 US.

: Ok well I am a certified Bio-Ionic Retexturizing Technician and my input is this: while Japanese hair straigtening sounds bizarre, only if you truly know Asian hair and the reason it's called Japanese would you understand.
