Hi .. I know this question may sound dumb, but I want to know from people here if the results can be nice. I have thick hair, the type that tends to grows kinda like "growing up" than "growing down", you know. I'd like a change so I figured I'd let my hair grow. What are the basic start up tips ? For the thick haired type, how are the results ?
Yes

I'm definitely in the thick hair category and I am closing in on twelve months of growth. The answer is thick-haired guys can grow a great thick head of long hair! For me the awkward stage resulted in big poofy hair because of all the thickness and it took a LOT of gel to keep it under control. But now that my hair is getting long the hair weighs itself down so that it doesn't poof up at all. You can check out the pictures on my website for an idea though I think my twelve month progress picture in two+ weeks will show this idea even better.
I've been told many times. . .

by hair stylists in the past...
that cutting my hair was equal to cutting the hair of THREE people and...
that their fingers hurt by the time they had finished with me.
So is that thick enough for you?
Here's my experience with growing:
1. At first it is hell.
2. Then begins the Awkward Stage which is hell.
3. Next: through all the phases of the awkward stage it's hell.
4. But then, one day, the hair begins to change...O look...
I can get it into a tail and...
5. The hair begins to feel less thick until...
6. A nice tail can be made and O, look again...
7. The hair lies neatly against the head. . .flat, almost...
8. That baby now seems so well behaved...all tied up...restrained...
9. It's a nice feeling...
So true...

Its important thaw awkward stagers keep this in minf. With hair growing, as in many other things, there's always a light at the end of the tunnel.

Over? Well...for me it was...
because that's when I started feeling good about myself.
When shame turns into something that you are actually proud of...
then you KNOW you've 'turned that corner'!

Hi,
Having thick hair is the best, especially once it gets into a pony tail.
The weight of the air helps when it gets long.
You will have to endure women coming up to you and saying how jealous they are of your hair. But no bald guys will say anything bad about you.
You will then only have to endure the daily care and maintenace program, which takes a bit of dedication.

Heck yeah. The result is very nice looking long hair once you get past the awkward stage, which IS hell. I've actually had hairstylists say not to cut my hair, because I've got the type of hair that looks good long. When I put my hair into a ponytail, it's very thick and has made quite a few women jealous that I have nicer hair than they do...

Yeah, of course you can! Try using some hair products if you feel if its getting out of control.
