Please Help!!!

To make a long story short, about ten months ago I cut my hair which was twelve inches long to about four inches long. I was extremly
upset when I first did this and was committed to growing my hair long from that point on. Well here I am ten months later and really contemplating cutting my hair again. Everyday by 2 pm my hair is a puffy, tangled mess. It's too short for a ponytail and too long to be styled. At work I need to look presentable but longhair is accepted if it looks good neat. The problem is I can't make it look neat. I've tried everything people have recommended on this site. Currently I'm using Aussie Moist shampoo and conditioner and L"oreal Melting gel. It worked well for awhile but now my hair is so thick that it won't hold anymore. Anyone give me some ideas on a gel that will hold with a wet look all day long? Also any styles that I can use for my hair until I get ponytail length? I'm currently at about 9 inches of length. I'm just not happy with my hair right now. Am I an a bad akward phase or what? Please help me before I cut it off again and regret that I did.
thank you

When you use any kind of gel or other product that stays in your hair...
you *must* wash it ALL out every day and start all over again... a FRESH START!
One very good product that I will post about in greater detail, later...
is JHERI REDDING FRIZZ OUT GEL (you can get it at most drugstores or
department stores and it is not expensive.
Beginning with hair that is clean & conditioned (but don't use a 'leave-in' conditioner)
FIRST apply your L'Oreal Melting Gel as usual...
now, rinse & dry your HANDS and apply the (Jheri Redding)FRIZZ OUT Gel...
Style as usual... and for God's sake...
try not to mess with your hair during the day...leave it alone!
PS: This Redding FRIZZ OUT Gel is alcohol FREE & attracts moisture and
helps prevent further moisture loss. I highly recommend it.

Well, very well, actually. The, of course, you are in control
because the more you add the stronger the hold.
If you add too much it WILL get stiff...even stiff enough for a tornado, maybe...
The Melting Gel makes the hair shiny & slick and
the Frizz Out adds just the right 'grab'.
Looks very natural...even feels natural if you don't put in too much...
But for thos windy days, who cares!
I went through almost a full day without flyaways...

Don't fiddle with your hair, it'll only cause split ends and hair loss, which in the long run will cause future poofyness.
At work, and most of the time, I tend to wear some sort of cap/hat, being that I'm in the awkward stage, and it sounds as if you're in the same predicament.
But when I'm on a date or if I need to meet with important people at work, then I shower and shampoo the night before, I pat down my hair with my hands, avoiding the towel, because that causes fuzzyness, I also avoid combs. I then wrap my hair with a bandana to shape/mold my hair. I then sleep with the bandana in place. By doing this, I align all of my hairs a certain way, and this maintains a thin and neat look, otherwise, when there are hairs going towards different directions, one gets poofyness.
The next morning, you can wake up to a somewhat neat bed head look.
If there are a few bushy parts left, just get a flat iron, to fix things up... although irons cause damage to ones hair, they are kinda nice to have sometimes.
good luck.

Dep Level 8 alcohol free styling gel. Put a lot in your hair when it's still wet. Brush or comb it through. Style as you wish and let it dry. DO NOT mess with your hair during the day and it should hold until that night. Next day, no time to wash? Than's ok. Just wet your hands and run them over your hair. The gel will instantly become gel again and then dry again after you are done.
