makeover show BS

That ridiculous makeover show not only spammed our board but has also sent me an email directly trying to get longhaired men to cut their hair off.
Something sinister this way comes.
Here are some exerpts:
>>We are looking for people that are ready to
change something about their appearance.
After viewing this board or especially my website, how the hell does someone get the impression that I (or any another longhairs here) am looking to get rid of my hair and why wouldn't have walked into any old barber shop and had it hacked already if I was so discontented with it?
>>Do people give you a hard time because you have long hair? Are
you ready for a new look and want to surprise someone with the new look?
If I was so worried about people giving me a hard time about my hair, what would the odds be of my actually having truly long hair?
And suprising someone with a "new look" (drastic=suprise) merely means that their "suprise" will be joy at your submission to their own personal social appearance standards.
Hmmm...

They think people would be happy if you cut your hair?
Boy, they really don't know us. THAT surprise would be devastating. Not a pleasant surprise AT ALL.
The Novelty Wears Off

The makeover "SURPRISE" lasts one, perhaps two days. After that, its either "WHY DID I CUT MY HAIR? I DIDN'T WANT TO DO THAT", or "I GOING TO GROW IT BACK". If you don't believe this, look at the many guys on THIS BOARD who say their going to cut it and later regret it!!!! The novelty wears off!!!!!!!

Most of these shows are centered around getting the makeover for a special event.
To prove a point, I would love to ask the board what they do to make a special appearance or impression. Not just about hair. Do you do something special with your skin, clothes or anything else?
It would be nice to prove that we DO clean up good without cutting our hair. There are options.

When I have a special occasion like a wedding or a formal dinner
I usually have my waist length hair braided.
No matter how special the occasion, the hair doesn't get cut.

I just put on a suit and tie for these kinds of events, like weddings and so on. Sometimes I get my ends trimmed (but not for a second big event the same year). I would never agree to a TV makeover. In an ideal world I wouldn't mind a free suit, but it isn't worth the price. Has anyone ever seem a male TV presenter with long hair? Not on American TV, anyway. These TV shows are done for the unwashed masses, not for anyone with any real intellect.
That's True...

Most guys who have long hair...surprise!...WANT IT!
If they are thinking about some bum who couldn't afford a haircut in years...
and NOW wants to *look good*...well, maybe that might make a bit of sense.
It's just a horror to think that something that takes literally YEARS to grow...
can just be chopped off in a few minutes flat...
...and THEN what???
They'll eventually grow it back

Sends shivers down your spine, doesn't it?

When did you get the email? I got one also, on Friday the 13th (go figure). Here was my reply:
It sounds like you are suggesting removing or shortening the hair. I just want to let you know that the forum was set up for those who wish SUPPORT for their long hair, and any post that is of a contrary nature is likely to be removed.
On the other hand, if you are seriously considering some sort of makeover situation that involves retaining long hair, I will seriously consider supporting that. I've found, though, that for most people, makeover means cut. So I'm skeptical.

I guess it was delivered on the 11th but I don't check my email all that often.
They know exactly what they are trying to do and it's all tied into the ratings from the other shows which always involve cutting hair that is longer than shoulder length.
I merely responded: Piss off!
