Milestone - longest ever

Thought I'd share this with you...
A mate pointed out to me yesterday that my hair was now the longest it'd ever been. It got me thinking, as I haven't been growing it for as long as I did before ....
I grew my hair from December 1996 until December 2000 when I had it all cut off on a bad hair day and then immediately regretted it (didn't know about the two-week rule then). Actually, 'regretted' isn't a strong enough word - 'desolated' would be more accurate.
That time, I had regular end trims - just a few mm each time to tidy things up. This time I've had no trims at all and my hair is now longer (in 2 years and 7 months) than it was in 4 years. Just shows how all those little trims added up to nearly a year and a half on the barbershop floor.
The point of this post is that, for me, I've found that trims (however minor they seem at the time) REALLY delay reaching your goal.
BTW, can someone ofer to host a picture for me ? I'm thick when it comes to tricky computer stuff. Can I email someone an image and then they upload it for me ? I don't know what type of image it would be - it's the sort you get when you take a normal film to be developed and they put it on a CD as well. Thanks in advance.

A year or two ago, I learned that trimming one's hair really has nothing to do stimulating hair growth. It only serves to improve the overall health of one's hair, by getting rid of "split ends". By trimming your hair, you're able to hold onto strands that don't split, so you're able to see growth because it's not breaking and splitting. It's a matter of perception rather than an affect on hair growth.
If you want to maintain the overall health of your hair, keeping it neat and tidy while growing it, get it trimmed. If you'd rather deal with split ends and breakage, don't get it trimmed. Either way, trim or no trim, hair won't grow any faster than the rate at which the body naturally produces it.
Split ends? No worry...

I look at it this way: You lose between 40 to 100 hairs a day anyway. What more could a few split ends do to keep your hair from growing any longer. I do not believe that anyones hair has stayed short, even though they never cut it, just because of split ends. I would consider it to be a rare thing if at all for someone to have split ends on every hair of their head, unless they treated their hair very roughly.
I refrain from trims because I don't want to stay in the awkward stage no longer than I have to. Split ends do not threaten me in the least. When it gets long enough (like shoulder blade length), I will go for a straightning out trim, because then the minimal loss won't be near as devistating. Peace!
I can host your pic
