Can't say I do, but remember that congress is government and government believes that short hair represents "authority" and "leadership".

Yeah, but this depends heavily on the country and the time.
Vikings, Teutons, (very)ancient Greeks, ...
And just look at the British Parliament! They all wear perkues, don't they?
Very true...

Here in Massachusetts we had one....his name is John Kerry
and he had long hair years ago after the Viet Nam war.
[Go to Google and search on Vietnam Veterans against the
war. He served in Viet Nam and then returned to
the US to protest the war.]
Also check out Bill Clinton when he was younger and
first met Hilary. He also had long hair.

I New Zealand we have a rastafarian in Parliament with dreads down past his waist. If you think thats crazy we also have a women prime minister! Seriously tho, both the Rasta and the Prime Minister are really good politicians.

"really good politicians" sounds like a contradiction of terms.

Not in NZ, but probably anywhere else in he world, it would be.
In York (that's 'Old' York, England) the City Councillor responsible for transport used to have a ponytail, but he cut it off about five years ago.
At Westminster, I can't recall any longhairs in recent years.

Not anyone in the country, but here in Memphis, TN, we've got this one guy named Robert Hodges, A.K.A. Prince Mongo. He's absolutely nuts, or at least portrays himself to be. He claims to be from another planet. He generally wears a long wig (so he probably doesn't count), he puts the same type of wig and sunglasses on his dog, wears wild clothes, carries a rubber chicken, and goes barefoot year-round, primarily to show off the ruby that's implanted in his big toe. He's got quite a bit of money, has been arrested on several occasions, and has been in trouble with his neighbors and the city because of his house and various businesses he has owned. His house looks like it was painted/decorated by LSD-tripping hippies and volunteers from nearby Bolivar County (where a state mental hospital is located). He runs for mayor nearly every term.
I am NOT making this up. I kinda wish I was, though. :\

The Official spokesman of the German State Department has a ponytrail. (his boss is from the the green party and they are more casual)
but however, this guy has long hair and appears often to the tv audience and everyone can see it

Rep. Ed Markey (D-MA), wears his hair long enough to cover half his ears.
