Paranoid Calculations

If a human head contains around 100,000 hairs and an average of 75-100 are lost per day, that accounts for around 25,000-36,000 hairs lost per year. Loosing even 75 per day would only yield two feet of possible growth (with 6in/year) And the bottom part would look very thin. How is it that many women, along with some men, can achieve waist-length hair? Putting it all in numbers has given me a phobia of loosing a lot of strands. (I have about 8 inches of hair) It seems like every time i run my fingers through my hair at least one stand comes loose. With super curly hair like mine (we're talkin ringlets)even two feet of growth won't be past my shoulders!
I would guess...

That maybe a hundred hairs per day are just starting up?
Try not to worry... since the 'evidence' is out there that
long hair IS a reality...
Good luck!

I think that the estimated average of 75-100 hairs falling out per day is extremely exaggerated. I only notice about a dozen a day.
