i have a few questions about multivitamins:
1)Do they actually speed up hair growth, and if so how long is it before they generally start working?
2)-which vitamins should i be looking for in ones 2 buy in order to speed up hair growth?
3)do they have any known side affects?(mine gave me bad breath for some reason)

What vitamins do is restore a persons over-all health thus maintain their optimum hair growth speed, if the body is unhealthy enough to have slowed down the persons top growth rate. Everyone has a top growth rate which varies from person to person and once an individual gets theirself healthy enough to maintain that top rate, there is nothing that will get their growth rate any faster. The average is 1/2 inch a month. I am one of the lucky few who get 3/4 inch a month (so far, anyway) since I have been taking a daily vitamin. This is my optimum growth rate.
2)- Which vitamins should I be looking for in ones 2 buy in order to speed up hair growth?
Well, I take OneSource multi-vitamin/multi-mineral Adult High Potency one-a-day suppliment. You can get in the health and beauty aid department at Wal-Mart.
3)Do they have any known side affects?(mine gave me bad breath for some reason)
These haven't given me any problems, though in the past I have taken vitamins that made me throw-up after taking it on an empty stomach. This is not the case with the vitamin I am taking now. I alw3ays take it first thing in the morning before eating anything and it hasn't done this to me. Good vitamin in my book.
Hope all this has helped in some way. Peace!

I think the reason that your multivitamins give you bad breath is because they have some sort of sulfate or sulfur chemical? Bad breath is not caused by gases and such in the stomach, as is commonly thought. It is caused by sulfur-producing bacteria on the back of the tongue. The only way to counteract this is to drink lots of water, brush the back of the tongue, use special mouthwash, and maybe (if needed) get a new type of vitamin.
Hope this helped with that issue, at least. I don't know how multivitamins affect hair growth.
