How do most of the people seem when it comes to having long hair(not that i can give a ****)? How are they when it comes to certain jobs, do they require you to cut it, or are they usually cool with it?

It depends on the country, of course. Some are more liberal then others.

It's hard to generalise about Europe. Although most of us are in the EC, laws and more importantly, perceptions vary considerably.
In the UK, it is well established in law that we have a right to self expression, and that includes long hair, but if an employer doesn't like the look of you at an interview, you still won't get the job.
I have not found myhair to be an issue in my work, even though long hair is very rare in the community I serve in my work - I have frequently been to meetings where I am the only long haired person there and the only one not wearing a suit, but I am always treated well and my ideas looked at fairly and on their merits.

Well it may sound a litte bit hard but as the trend is that many employers in Europe go the "american" way (everything gets american and I donīt like it --> not that I donīt like America, thatīs not the point) and that means that many employers start to do something against people who are different.

The situation in the UK at the moment is that good employees are sp hard to find that most employers can't afford to be fussy over irrelevant things like hair. Irrelevant to your ability to do the job, that is.

Europe consists of over 43 (or is it more?) different countries with different cultures.
As for Austria and Germany I can say that long hair is currently in.

In Cyprus most males aged 20 to 25 let their hair grow long at some point and then cut it once they are done with college or get a job or because they are done experimenting. It is basically their way of rebelling against school and the army (2 yrs compulsary service) which forces them to have short hair. I would say there are no prejudices or anything like that, but it is rare to see anyone working at a bank or anywhere else in the service sector having long hair.

In UK long hair is definitely on the increase. Re jobs, I suppose a lot of employers would see it as a minus point. But how would you feel if you got your hair cut for a job interview, only to find that the job goes to another man - with long hair?
Cheers, Barry

I've never had any problems and my hair is mid-back. I always make sure that it is neat and well taken care of, and I use a straigthening iron every day to make sure it's smooth. I usually wear it down and it doesn't seem to irritate anyone. I also have both ears pierced and always wear earrings without getting any comments on this either. I have a clean shaven face and I think that makes me look more acceptable. If I were to have a full beard and curly, unruly hair, I don't think my employer would be ok with it anymore.
