Quick Question...

Would you guys say its better to shampoo your hair every day but not condition it every day, or to not shampoo every day but to condition it every day? (I hope that makes sense!) I hear different things from different people. What would all of you say? Personally I like having my hair about 4 or 5 inches all over and it feels better to me to shampoo every day and only condition when i feel like I need it, but I don't know if that will have bad long run results.

You hear different things from different people because... they're different :-)
And their hair is different too.

No, I'd say if you shampoo it, follow up with some conditioner.
For -me-, I shampoo & condition every day, but that's me and it works for my
fine, straight non-poofy hair. There are others on this board that shampoo
every other day, or every three days and I've seen posts from a select few
that use just conditioner and no shampoo.
Keep experimenting, you'll figure out what works :-)

Ill start by saying that conditioners are WAY overrated on this board…
Before I’m slain for this comment.. *insert trite comment* "this will of course vary from person to person”. depending on genetic hair makeup
As for my self, if i am keeping my hair at 4 to 5 inches.. it NEVER needs conditioning.. I have very health and shiny hair and can wash every day using harsh dandruff shampoo.. and still achieve lush, shiny, healthy, vibrant, hair..
This is also my routine when me hair is at or below shoulder length, except that I do condition maybe once a week or so, just for the hell of it.. :) and again, I do possess very quality hair… genetically provided to me, I suppose..
In other words.. You’ve now heard advice from both ends of the spectrum, now go out and find what works for you..!!!

Conditioners are NOT overrated on this board. They are necessary for the well-being of long-term hair growth. 4-5 inches is not long-term hair growth.
Totally agree... (n/t)

Mine and probably 99% of other people on this board and every hair care professional in the world.
One of the board rules here is to pick a name and stick to it. If you cannot do this then you are trolling and not welcome.

Agreed with Hair Religion. I don't know who you are (other than a troll), but conditioner is absolutely essential for hair quality and well being. I can't stress that enough. You should condition your hair every 1 - 3 days at least. I do it everyday.
Everyone is welcome to their own opinion. But saying conditioner isn't vital to hair is a joke.
And on a side note, 4 to 5 inches of hair is also not anything near 'longhair' in my book. Maybe multiplied by 3...

I use conditioner every month and wash my hair about twice a week.
Because I am out in the fresh air a lot, it doesn't get dirty very quickly.
Everybody's hair is different, some needs more conditioner than others, so see what works for you. You may be lucky and not need a lot; you may find it vital. The other important factor is to be careful not to damage you hair as it gets longer: the more damage, the more conditioner you need to repair/disguise the damage, but it's better not to do the damage in the first place.
For advice on how not to damage hair, look at previous posts on this board.
Happy growing.
