Straight Hair with a Flip at the End
Posted by HairGarden on September 07, 2003 at 20:35:01: Previous Next
I have straight hair, been growing it now for 17 months from a buzzcut. I had two trims totaling about a three inch loss, to eliminate the mullet back. It is now pretty much at or just past my shoulders and doing a "That Girl" kind of thing.
The question I have is...will the notorious flip at the bottom ever go away? My theory is that the hairs on the outer layers are shorter that the ones on the inside, which causes the flip. Also, if the hair is one length, will this stop the flip? I am contemplating another cut that will pretty much bring my hair to a blunt.
Any suggestions from those that have experienced this phenomenon? For me, this as awkward stage II.

Most people experience this. I had it and yes it will go away...
HOW? . . .LENGTH...
A few more inches should do the trick. In the meantime, try
using a brush to reverse the curl/flip while it is still damp...
and Good Luck!

I have huge flips, they are like 3 inch long flips in the back. Even when my hair is wet the flips wont stay down >:(. Oh well I guess it's all part of the akward stage.

Those flips WILL go away with time and length, as someone already said. When I had the "flip," I would take one of those round brushes and curl the flip under while blowdrying it. This would force the flip to stay under, if you know what I mean. The only reason you'd need to get it cut at this point is to even everything out, becaues getting trims really doesn't help the flip to go away.
