Dealing with Seborrhea anyone?
Posted by gah2dantz on September 08, 2003 at 16:17:06: Previous Next
When I had short hair, shampooing with a regular shampoo was sufficient to exfoliate the scalp. However, 2 years later that is no longer the case and the Seborrhea is quite difficult to control.
The coal-tar shampoos are pretty harsh on the hair, but they do take care of the scales. Standard dandruff shampoos and moisturizing shampoos are ineffective.
Is there anybody else out there dealing with this problem?

http://www.medicinenet.com/Seborrhea/article.htm -- I know you probably know this info, but I thought this site might be helpful to you. I use Nizoral shampoo for my yeast buildup which is not the same as seborrhea; however, Nizoral does have ketoconazole as its key ingredient. Naturally, a visit to a good dermatologist may prove useful, if for no other reason, than to get a prescription for the prescription strength Nizoral shampoo. There is an over the counter version and it contains less medicine than the doctor's prescription. By the way, I had to hunt for a really good dermatologist and pay some of the big bucks for it, but I was very glad I did. She was well worth the money when she helped me with my scar tissue. This is my way of saying that not all dermatologist's are alike! A dermatologist that does surgery might be a clue to a good doctor. OH! And Nizoral is expensive!!! (Usually, on TV this is sold as a dandruff shampoo, but it does help with a variety of skin conditions on the scalp.) heidi w. (from TLHS)
