THEY DON'T SEEM TO DO SO WELL FOR ME, WHAT ARE YOUR OPINIONS ON THEM? ARE THEY REALLY JUST NOT GREAT FOR MY HAIR TYPE(THICK AND STRAIGHT AND A LITTLE DRY) OR DOES MY HAIR JUST SUCK (P.S. SORRY IF THIS HAS BEEN GONE OVER BEFORE BUT THIS IS MY FIRST TIME TO THE SITE AND I DONT HAVE TIME TO READ ALL THE POSTS WHILE MY KIDS ARE PLAYING IN THE NEXT ROOM!) BUT ANYWAY ALL THESE PRODUCTS BASICALLY JUST CLUMPED MY HAIR TOGETHER, THERE WAS NO SEPERATION OR FREEDOM. HERE THEY ARE-
PERT PLUS (SHAMPOO & CONDITIONER)FOR NORMAL HAIR
SUAVE- ALL SORTS OF TYPES
PANTENE PRO-V SILKY SMOOTH
GARNIER FRUCTIS-NORMAL
HERBAL ESSENCE
V05 FRESIA-(IT WORKED GREAT FOR ONE DAY THEN MADE HAIR GREASY)

haha. Come on Stan, just help the guy out. haha. :)
Anyway, most people here use drugstore brands, SIMILIAR to the ones mentioned. But most of the ones you mentioned 'we' (im saying "we", hopefully most of you won't mind me saying our collective opinion)find too harsh. Im not sure anyone would recommend Pantene or Suave, or even Pertplus, as they are quite harsh, but fine for short haired people who often get haircuts. The hairs on our head get older everday, and more fragile, so we often avoid those shampoos, because as mentioned earlier, are harsh cleansers. But shampoos and conditioners that people on this board are using now are basically this: The Aussie line (moist, mega etc.) which is an expensive drugstore brand (well, maybe 4 bucks....expensive for drugstore shampoo but dirtcheap compared to salon shams/cond. Aussie comes higly recommended. People have had excellent results and continue using it. And the new kid on the block is L'oreal Vive (smooth and intense), basically a new product under the same name as their older VIVE line. This shampoo and conditioner set is fantastic, I currently use it. Though, as a disclaimer, not for everyone. But i have thick hair, and it does a good enough job, so ill stick with it. So there you go, 2 drugstore brands that are currently affordable and do the job. Hopefully, someone else will give you. more insight on these 2 products. No 2 in 1 shampoo/conditioners were mentioned, as people prefer to conditioner more then they shampoo. At least when they are growing it long anyway. haha.
No offense, but....

This is not true. This is like an old wive's tale that never goes away. Suave, Pantene, et al are no more harsh than any other shampoo. The only difference between Suave and Paul Mitchell is the price.
I've had long hair since the 70s and have seen products come and go, have heard claims bordering on the proposterous, and have learned that all shampoos are basically the same.
I have very long hair, and have never had a problem with any shampoo, expensive or cheap.

Every person's hair is different. I haven't had much luck with Aussie stuff. Most people like it though, so overall I would recommend it for a newbie, or for someone who hasn't tried it.
And again, price means NOTHING when it comes to hair products. More costly isn't better in most cases.

I personally don't think a 2 in 1 really works, but that's just me. Even if I use a 2 in 1, I still need to condition afterward.
And as I've mentioned before...it's really what you do AFTER shampooing and conditioning that makes all the difference in the world.

Well, it oisturizes hair and make it smooth & slick.
The price is not expensive at all.
Experiment with it and learn how much YOUR hair needs.
Good Luck!

2 in 1 didn't make sense to me a couple of years ago and nowaday I just consider it a load of crap. It's like trying to swallow food and breathin through you mouth at the same time.
