How do you know what style your hair will be once it gets long? (ex. curly, straight, etc)

You could try growing it out... Not much way to tell without seeing for yourself.

I suppose it depends whether your natural hair type is curly or straight, and whether you get it cut or shaped.

well, when your hair gets one inch or more, wash it and let it dry naturally. wait a few hours, rub your hands through it, go about your day etc. Then your hair will either curl, fall flat, poof, or whatever. Then you get a good idea of whats in store for you hair- wise. Mine for example, at one inch would curl, and lo-and-behold I have curly hair now at 7 inches or whatever it is now.

You don't. You just grow it, and see what happens.
