yearly trim

I had my yearly trim yesterday the results are great eventhough it is shoulder blade length now (It was mid back which was 3 1/2 years growth)It is much more healthy and stronger even though two inches off seemed a bit of a shock! It will only take four months to grow back and be ten times healthier. It was very daunting but once it was done I was so relieved and happy.^_^

Glad you're happy with the results!!!
I don't think I'd want to lose 2 inches at one time either. That's why I have about a 1/8" to 1/4" trimmed every 12 weeks. I don't notice a difference in length, it ends up being less than 2" per year, and it keeps it healthier (more consistent, while keeping the split-ends in check).
Happy growing!!

Bah. I lost four-something inches on my road to becoming a longhair... and it sucked, but it grew back in such a clean way...
Those trims are a blessing in disguise.
THANK YOU!

I'm lucky, my mother cuts my hair every few months. She knows just to "dust" it (1/2" tops).
If I had to go to a shop, I would feel threatened...and I would threaten. I would let the person cutting my hair and the manager know that if more than 1/2" was taken off there would be hell to pay. I don't care if there are split ends everywhere...1/2" at the very most.
Of course all the aggression comes from a hair cut that went awry when I was 13. I was sitting on my hair and it was thick and heavy. Decided to get it layered. I ended up with hair at my shoulders (she HAD to cut off all the split ends...???). Have never trusted a person with scissors again.
