melting gel use question

so, for those of you who use the l'oreal melting gel, do you put it in while the hair is still damp? or when it is completely dry? i've normally been doing it in this way: after i shower, i just press the towel against my hair (i don't rub, as i've heard that is not good for the hair) to soak up the moisture... then a few minutes after, put in the melting gel and then comb with a fine tooth comb. i've been reading posts saying that is bad for those with wavy/curly hair such as mine, so i guess i need to get a wide tooth comb and start using it. i've found with the way i'm doing it now, the sides will be fairly straight, and after a few hourse of it drying, i'll comb it and my hair has a very smooth texture on the sides. if i try that with the back of my hair, it'll go crazy! i'm just trying to manage my hair the best i can, so hopefully i can make it through the awkward stage without cutting it short this time. as of late it has been very annoying with the back, and my hair seems to be growing so slowly!
the back is the worst...

I can only speak for myself...but I always apply the MELTing Gel to damp hair.
Applying it to dry hair produces an entirely different reaction!
As for the BACK of your head...the hair there has to be some of the MOST misbehaved
hair on the entire head! It has a mind of its own, I swear!
Length will usually take care of all that...IF you have the patience
to get it.
Try a WIDE-tooth comb. If your hair tangles...remember to start at the END of your hair and gradually work your way up toward the roots.
Good Luck!
