How much younger/older we look

I've been noticing something which I thought worth of another post.
If you look at other peoples progress pics, growing hair seems to have had a positive effect on how old people look.
The younger members of the hyperboard (<18's) all look much older with longer hair, and all the older members look much younger. Wierd, but amazing...

This is something that has intrigued me, too. I guess it seems that most of the time a thick head of long hair seems to compliment a person's age. It's interesting.

I look much younger now. When I was 18-22ish, heavy with short hair and a beard, I never got carded. Now I'm 23 (gasp, almost 24), thinner, with longer hair and without the beard, and I fit right in with the kids I go to school with. Most of the girls I date are 19-21 and unless I tell them, they have no idea I'm older.
Obviously, a lot of age perception also comes from wardrobe and the way you carry yourself, but it's also the way you present yourself. For example, I definitely choose a completely different vocabulary to fit the group with whom I'm participating. I've noticied that I'm seen as much more serious if I simply brush my hair staright and tie it tight while it's wet. Add business-type wardrobe, and I can pretty well pull off the whole "adult thing" when the situation is appropriate. ;-)

even though i'm a girl, i get that whole older thing alot. but i think it deals more with how i carry myself and dress that makes people think that i'm in my 20's instead of in my teens. people probably also get an air of my maturity levels, so that may also add into play too. ;)

I've been told that from behind, I look like I'm 15, because many older teens avoid longer hair and because I'm short (5'4"). From front, I'm told that--paired with my shaggy mustache, beard, and sideburns--I look like I'm twenty-something despite my size, except from a distance, when I look 15 again.
I'm 18!

I agree...I'm 19, but I guess I fit in with the kids on this one. Long hair has made me look MUCH older. Check it out for yourself.
