A few questions

Background: I'm 20 years old and I have very thick hair to go along with my big head ha but I am trying to grow it long. My hair especially when dry has a tendency to curl up at the ends especialy in the back and it gets real frizzy. When I wake up in the morning it's a disaster( fro type) I've been growing it since last December with only occasional maintenance trims and the bangs are just about at my mouth right now. It seems the only time my hair looks really good is when I get out of the shower and it actually looks somewhat thinner and straight. I've resorted to wearing a baseball cap or stocking cap to hide the craziness that is my hair--also because if I take the cap off my hair is actually controlled somewhat. I use gel when I can't wear a hat and that tends to help somewhat--- my questions include:
1)Is using Teatree shampoo and conditioner products the way to go? My barber encourages it. Should I shampoo every other day and condition everyday? The problem I've run into is scalp itchiness-maybe it's from wearing caps all the time but I just have to shampoo my hair sometimes to alleviate the itching-once again I have very thick hair.
2)Should I still get 1/4th to 1/2inch cut off every 10-12 weeks or so?
3)Is wearing hats bad for my hair? I have a tendency to wear a cap backwards and stick the front bangs underneath the hat but as a result the very middle portion of my bangs has no style at all it looks retarded
4)And well just any style tips for someone who hopes to have long hair that resembles say Scott Stapp of Creed and then be able to wear it in a ponytail althought that will probably take eons because my front bangs will need to be long as hell in order to make it around my big head.

The scalp itchies may indeed be due to having wet hair for long
periods of time, and stuffed under a cap where it's warm with no
air movement probably doesn't help.
Maybe try the gel approach for longer periods, and less time wearing
a cap - see if the itchiness is reduced. I'm not familiar with
the product you mentioned (sorry).

well... let's see
first off... avoid the cap... you wear it every day and usually, I assume, with partly wet hair... that's bad...
try gel, loreal metling gel is good... not sticky if you use the right amount and doesn't go hard...
if your hair is more than 6 inches long start shampooing less and conditioning more... use shampoo and conditioner made for dry hair (loreal vive 3x intense i good :) )
I have very thick and curly hair and using these methods has helped me...
oh and one more thing... consider a bandana instead of a hat... more flexible, breathable...
