Have you guys ever resorted to write to newspapers to get your views on longhaired men?
I did and that was like 4 years ago. I talked about the various stereotypes that long hairs like you and I face. Ex. verbal physical aggression. It got published in various newspapers, but some classified it as humor.
I got even a response from an old lady saying that I was stupid,..etc..

Never done so myself - but I'd love to read what you wrote, why not post it here or on the web somewhere?

because compared to "serious" discrimination what most people talk about here is a joke!
there is no such thing as a long-hair hater... it's different if are being made fun of b/c of what u look like... that can happen even if u have short hair... I think this long hair discrimination thing is drawn out of proportion...

Some people have been physically attacked because they have long hair. It happened to me once. Job discrimination is not imaginary either. I can't say the latter has definitely happened to me, but we know it happens.
This behaviour is not really any different psychologically from beating up and/or discriminating against [insert racial group here]. Either way, it's based on observable differences. The only difference is that we can cut our hair, but why should we?

So, when a guy is singled out and denied a job, denied scholarships, ridiculed by adults and his peers, harassed by school officials, questioned by police, turned down for housing......JUST for having long hair...nothing else....what would you call that? Would that fit the standards of discrimination? Or would it just not fit YOUR personal ideas of what discrimination means. It is not the discrimination that the laws tend to deal with that much like racial or gender, but it certainly is the same spirit of discrimination. You say, "it's different if are being made fun of b/c of what u look like", but that is part of the harassing discrimination that minorities had to live with before (and still after) laws were made to identify and discourage discrimination.
Our strides for equality have created an environment where you can't deny these things to minorities nowadays but it's ok to do to a man because his hair is longer than yours? That's just as retarded! Keep in mind that women in the same circumstances mentioned above are not subject to the same treatment.
What is it called again when a portion of the population of a community is excluded from benefits that are extended to the rest of the community? You'll need to help me remember, Mike, because it's on the tip of my tongue but I just can't seem to find the word.
Sure there are longhair-haters, where have you been for the past 45 years or so? You can't have been on this board for very long because we have tossed about websites of longhair-haters that vehemently attack longhairs based solely on their choice of hair length. If someone is demonstrating a hateful attitude towards you through, words, actions, etc. because you have longer hair than them.......then that demonstration of hate towards you is what makes them a longhair-hater. How is that hard to understand?
I don't know about you but my hair is an actual part of my body (i.e. my hair grows out of my body). It is not the same thing as wearing a hat that someone doesn't like.
