Dry Scalp

Hello all! Forgive me if I'm repeating a past topic (couldn't find it in the archives). I go to school in Potsdam, NY...if anyone doesn't know where that is, it's basically a half-inch from the Arctic Circle. In winter, the temp doesn't get above zero for weeks. Naturally, this is horribly drying and my scalp is beginning to itch and feel very dry, and there is a little flaking, but not the typical little white snowflake thingies that you get with dandruff. I know it isn't dandruff because I don't have this problem in the summer. When I work out, I thing the sweat irritates my scalp too and causes it to itch even more.
Anyone have any suggestions? (besides transferring, of course ^_^)

I am beginning to get this problem as well.
Right now I'm sitting here with my hair drenched in extra virgin olive oil, pinned up under a shower cap. It will stay like this for approximately 3 more hours while I clean my fish tanks.
This will be followed by a light washing and 3 minute miracle. I'm hoping this may help a bit with the dry and itchy scalp.
I can see myself doing this frequently throughout the winter.
