hey everyone, i don't know if this will work..hopefully it will (if you reading it..then it worked :)..but yeah..i have a question...about how long should your hair be before you try to put part it and have it look good?..my hair has been growing for almost 7 months now from a buzzcut..i think in about two more months or so i might be able to part it and not have it look funny, but i'm just curious if that is too early and i should wait a little longer...i will try to post pics later someitme....thats it...thanks to anyone who replys to this

I moved my part from the left more twards the center when it was long enough that the part I had made it look awful. That probly happened between 6 and 9 months after a short haircut. Nowadays my hair parts wherever it damn well pleases and I have no say in the matter.

I parted my hair when I thought it was time (umm when it looked better parted lol).
I kinda wish I could have my hair just go all scruffy on top again, but my hair naturally parts in the middle... but pfft... i like long hair way better than having it short + scruffy :)
it will part naturally n./t

I guess you're hoping for slightly deeper answer than: "When it looks good." But honestly thats the best time.
I wouldn't recommend parting your hair when its too short otherwise it tends to go all fluffy when washed and you can look a little "old manish" (Sorry to stereotype.)
I started centre parting after 4 months, but my bangs were to my eyes and I had my first trim with this in mind. The annoying part was it highlighted how short my top layers still were. (3.5 inches.)
Really its up to you, but you'll be getting into the bad hair stage soon and the "messy" unparted look is easier to wear during these trying times. Particularly if you dont plan to trim.

I was reading about center parting the hair since I'm there as well. The response included a statement about moving into an awkward stage soon and I'm about there. Right now it's about 4.5 inches and growing. But my hair's very fine, wavy, but it brushes straight pretty much since the weight straightens it. But I'm still combing it behind the ears and it works good. Still, I can see a little more length is going to alter again the way I comb my hair, so tell me what's coming up and what you recommend that I do. Thanks. Josh

The awkward stage is different for everybody, but if you have fine and straight hair, for the most part its easier to manage. As you quite rightly point out a little more length changes the way you comb your hair.
I've always pushed most of the lower layers back behind my ears but I've only just got to the length when the top layers will reach behind my ears, but I need another inch for them to stay there. (Big head!)
Pretty soon you'll find it impossible to wear any kind of fringe and you'll be brushing your bangs to the side to keep your hair outta of your face, wishing to god that they would get long enough to stay behind your ears.
You'll hate your hair and wanna cut it, so before you cut, you might want to post here for some reassurance. But like as not that wont help too much and you'll still hate your hair...
(Advice: Maintence Trim before you go for something drastic. Like a short cut...)
Otherwise the best advice is stick at it for another 18months and you'll be there... I gotta another year + to go myself... :-(
