: Nutrition is a very large defining attribute to growing hair long. It has to do with your growth rate (reaching and maintaining your predetermined optimum growth speed) and the health of your hair roots. Poor health and poor nutrition can slow down your growth rate as well as develope week hair roots that don't grow as strong as they could with a healthier you, if you will. Yep, has a lot to do with hair growth, my friend. Stay healthy and get those darn vitamins in ya'! Peace!

My question is
Treyn or anyone else who takes vitamins: - Which Vitamins do you recommend taking? As one of my friends who is also growing their hair out has a faster growth rate than me, however they eat a lot more fruit than I do and are prolly getting more vitamins than me.
Any help would be much appreciated
Thanks

I take OneSource multi-vitamin/multi-mineral Adult High Potency one-a-day suppliment. I've been taking this for quite some time and have been maintaining around 3/4 inch a month growth. Not to mention I have been feeling pretty good too since taking them. Peace!

Any daily men's multivitamin should be fine. I do not subscribe to the school of suppliments with regard to hair growth. AFAIK, there is no product on the market that will make your hair grow faster. Rate of growth is genetically determined for the most part; the only thing that could potentially affect growth rate would be major hormonal changes such adolescence, menopause or pregnancy.
If you eat right, drink a lot of water and exercise regularly, your hair and body will thank you for it. Cut your sugar intake, watch your saturated fat, moderate your carbs, avoid chemicals, and eat your damn veggies!

I've been taking One A Day Maximum's for about 6 months and recently the past month added in a daily biotin supplement. I do think that the biotin has helped a little not only in faster growth but being alot shinier and healthier. The growth could just be my imagination but I definitely notice the healthier hair, as have others of late. Just my two cents...

I think Biotin is good for hair, it is an ingredient of Ultra Hair Plus and Hair Skin and Nails, and it can be used seperately.
Another point is breakage, it can reduce the length and it can give the impression that the hair grows very slowly.
Improving hair care and using Hair vitamins and Biotin has almost doubled my hair length (the longest single hairs from 30 cm to longer than 50 cm), it has grown essential longer in 4 years than in former time periods of 5 years (ignoring and missing hair care knowledge).

...can't attest to vitamins and increasing terminal length since I'm still growing my hair out, but here's my 2 cents on hair growth speed and vitamins:
I've always taken Costco's (i.e., Kirkland's) multi-vitamin and mineral pills. In addition to that, I started taking Hair, Skin and Nails. I can't for sure whether those HSN pills increased my hair growth speed, but they definitely increased my NAIL growth speed!
Most recently, I stopped taking the HSN pills, and started taking Men's UltraNourish Hair pills by GNC, which I have taken at times during the last year. I also can't say whether or not they increased my hair growth speed. Since it seems as though my hair growth speed has been fairly average while taking these pills, my plan is to stop taking the GNC pills as well.
After the GNC pills end, I'm going to just take Biotin pills. I should thank someone for mentioning Target because I ended up buying those Biotin pills for about $2.50 (they'll last about 50 days), as opposed to about $16.00 for the GNC pills (they last 60 days) and about $7.00 for the HSN pills (they last 30 days).
If the Biotin doesn't have a noticeable difference, I won't buy those either. In other words, for me, I'm finding that I could save money by just eating right and taking a good multi-vitamin and mineral pill to fill in the nutrients I don't take in from food. The additional "hair" pills don't seem to be doing much for me and if so, it's nominal to not be worth the money.
