hair & fingernail growth rate?

well? I've noticed recently since cutting out junk food from my diet and trying to eat only what i COULD go hunt down or gather myself that my hair and fingernail growth rate have skyrocketed. It's not been long enough to do a measurement on the hair, but my nails constantly keep growing over my fingertips every week or two.
i've also stopped using any hair products such as gels, mouse, sprays whatever and my hair feels so much better... Especially between washings.
