Never ending awkward stage

Hey guys, It's been awhile since I've posted. Been very busy with the band the past few months. I looked at some of the pics posted lately, and was very surprised at the growth on some of you. Mine is now shoulder length. But for about a month now it's been driving me nuts! It's very poofy still, and now somewhat damaged from being on stage almost every night for 2 months, sweating headbanging, etc.. I try my best to take care of it, but it's not easy on the road. Now that I'm back home I've been having thoughts of cutting it. It would be so nice not to have to deal with it anymore. But I just can't make myself do it. I've come close to doing it a couple of times. Once I actually had the clippers on, and had them about an inch from my head, and I started shaking and just couldn't do it. I don't know what to do now, I want to be rid of all the trouble it takes to take care of and deal with it, but I know i'd regret cutting it. I thought it would be easier after 2 1/2 years. But so far it's not. It's like a never ending awkward stage. Still poofy, frizzy, all of it still won't go into a tail. Ah, if only I could take it off and put it back on whenever I wanted. Oh well, just want to drop in and say hi, and vent a little. Happy growing!

I would suggest trying to use gel and a blow dryer, it will take the frizz out and hold a style. Its a bit more work in th morning but holds a nice look all day

I think if you're not enjoying your hair, then you shouldnt feel like you have to grow it, but before you do anything like cut it off, try all the things these guys mentioned. After all that growth cutting it off should be a last ditch effort, but if youre really not happy with it then there is no point.
use a straightening iron

Dude,
Rather than give up and cut it, go to a professional salon. Let them look at the quality of your hair right now and let them recommend products that will bring it back to life. Also, maybe, they'll have to cut off just a little, maybe 1/2 inch all around, to get the dried ends off and to bring some visual balance back. I've learned through this growing out stage that the pros really know what they're talking about. I've learned that many of the grocery store shampoos and conditioners are great if your bald or buzzed, for longer hair, they really do leave residues that, over time, damage the hair (opposite of what they tell you though). Anyway, man, I'd recommend you get to a salon before you cut it off. They really know what they're talking about. Oh, um, trying to be nice here--I'd not recommend a salon with young stylists just out of school (no depth of experience at all) and I'd be careful if the stylists and most of their clientele are grandmas or retirees. You might end up with blue hair dude! Good luck, man, and keep the Board posted will you? I'd personally be anxious to hear how you make out with your decision, etc. Josh

Why don't you try having your hair professionally straightened. I hear that the Bio Ionic method does a fantastic job and does not damage your hair.
