This well known book was voted top book in BBC TV's 'The Big Read' last night.
Will it lead to greater popularity for some of the longer hair styles seen in the film versions of the book, I wonder.

Somehow I doubt it. Those kinds of fads don't last long enough for people to even finish growing it out. And once it's over most of those people would just chop it off.
It's too bad though, I'd love to see more longhairs out there. But on the other hand, I kind of like being a bit of a freak :)

Actually I think the Lord of the Rings movies have helped contibute to young men wearing their hair longer growing it out for the average super short look.
Take a look around the males nowadays and alot of your people/ guys have that Samwise /Frodo hair going.
Im wondering how long this trend will last.
It seems long hair makes a comeback every 10-15 years
I also think That 70's show was the start of the whole 70's shaggy lok making a comeback.

I think most people would tell you the long hair looks great in movies such as Brave Heart, Last of the Mohigans, Dances with Wolves, Lord...etc. But, those epics are either fantasies or from another era; the focus here being on era. Most people stick pretty close to the current trends and styles; viewing us as apart from the norm. As many have said here, eveyone must do what they think is right for them; long/short/inbetween. Believe it or not, Dr. Phil says, "The conforming definition of you may be convenient for the world, but it can leave you frustrated and lacking hope, passion and energy." Be yourself my brothers and sisters! Above all, have fun with it!
