Hey i now lots of people always ask this question about is it ok to notice hair in the bottom of the bath tub, but it still gets me kinda paranoyed. I have been growing my hair for about 18 months now and my hair is about 10.5 to 11 inches long. i only shampoo about 1 to 2 times a week and condition everyday. But when i do shampoo my hair i notice a huge glob of hair by the drain and a few strainds hair scattered about on the bottom of the tub. does my hair sound normal. my hair doesnt seem to be getting any thinner.
thanx

Yes, this sounds normal. As your hair gets longer, the 50-100 hairs that you normally lose every day get longer and feel larger and are more visible. Also, I find that on days that I actually wash my hair, I am naturally more vigourous with my hair and scalp, and that will remove lose hairs. Unless you've got patches of baldness showing up, this sounds normal.

I can't believe I'm doing this, but a picture does speak a thousand words - most of the time.
The picture below represents several weeks worth of hair I've had come out while shampooing (my tub has a very slow drain. by the time the water's gone after showering, I've forgotten about the hair I need to clean out of it).
My hair is waist-length.
WARNING: This picture is NOT to be viewed by the squeemish. I did put it all on a piece of white paper and positioned it on my desk chair. Nevertheless, it's not one of the most pleasant sights.
(The shot on the left in the photo album is what my hair looks like dry)

The amount of hair you lose in several weeks does not appear to be all that much. You probably lose only 20 to 30 strands per day. That would be about 750 strands per month. The amount I lose is probably greater than you lose but my hair is longer than yours. Because it is longer a wad of 75 strands of my hair would probably have the about same volume as 100 strands of your hair. Absalom

I forgot to mention that I was sharing the pic to let anyone else concerned about hair loss while showering that there's no real need for concern.
hehe
Your estimate's about right, though.
