1 Year Progress Pics

Hi People,
OK - Its one year since I started growing my hair and although I've had regular trims, I haven't had anything taken off the top for 9 months and before that only the tips were snipped. Here's what I look like 1 year on from my last short-style:
Thanks to everyone for their support so far... I guess I'm half way there...
Comments, Critiques, Praise & Flames all tolerated well...
-Sorted-
well grown!

That's as much length as anybody could ever hope to grow in twelve months. It's clearly very healthy and well maintained. Your hair flicks in exactly the same way mine did at that stage, and will straighten in due course.
In a couple of years you'll have a very full, healthy long mane. Congratulations for what you've achieved so far!

Wow, that's excellent progress for one year. It certainly gives me hope and encouragement, although I do believe that my hair grows slower than the national average.
Keep it up, looks great!
Not Excellent

Thanks, though I dunno if the progress is excellent.. I only have managed about 6.5-7 inches worth of growth... People like Aaron, Fink, Treyn, & Steve-o who all started about the same time as me are way out in front.

That is above average. Hair normally grows 6 inches per year. Your hair looks well groomed and healthy. Happy growing. Absalom

Didn't say it was a competition, just saying others have better growth rates than me... (and better hair...) :-)
No offence meant ! (nt)

I have to say you have made excellent progress. You started with very short hair which is why you may think others are ahead of you. You are definitely in the optimum growth range and it looks like you are taking good care of it. As others have said, those curly ends will straighten out a bit as your hair gets longer. They will also have less impact since they will be out of your way below your shoulders. Thanks for the update.

Yeah its the shoulders that really cause the problem with the curl... (the last obsticle of anatomy)
I've being thinking about whether to trim the back one more time and tackle the shoulders with a blunter cut, or whether just to suffer it and let it grow... Advice?
Let it grow

let it grow... Your hair has such potential and I think you'd be surprised with the results if you quit cutting it. To the disdain of some, I agree that maintenance trims are a must. Depending on the stage of growth, I think the trims should be spread out as long as possible and very little cutting when they do occur. I hope I don't sound crazy? All in all, Cheers my friend and enjoy the journey.

did u ever trim the top of your hair? or did u just let it grow out during the year?
what about the back, sides, did you trim it?
just wondering, coz i am starting to grow my hair out. its still quite short, like your short style first pic.

I trimmed the top only in the early stages. My short look had a pretty "choppy" finish, so I had it evened out so I could let it grow, which I did for the past nine months.
I trimmed the back n sides every 3 months, but not severely, there is about a 3.5 inch difference in length between the top layers and the back n sides (8" vs 4.5") I never had it buzzed if thats what your asking.

You should NOT be trimming the sides or any of it. You have another year to go before even thinking about evening the length.
Been there, done that.
