Trying Something New - Update
Posted by Nyghtfall on February 06, 2004 at 00:24:40: Previous Next
Just realized I never posted an update to the experiment I was running.
A little background: I decided not to put anything in my hair after washing it one day, and see how long I could go wearing it down, before it got too unruly. I used to gel it after washing.
Final update: My hair lasted two weeks.
Conclusion: I only need to wash my hair twice a month, as appposed to the daily routine I had gotten used to all these years.
Why is this significant? The long one's hair gets, the more of a hassle it becomes to wash. When you've got waste-length hair, it's a royal pain in the arse!

I agree with you entirely, it is a royal pain in the rear. My hair is over 3 feet long and way past waist length. It is closer to knee length and so I never wash more than once a week and sometimes only every 2 weeks. Less washing means less damage, tangling, and loss. Less damage and loss means longer hair. Your hair will probably be able to grow a foot longer than its current length by washing only twice a month. Good luck. Absalom
I also agree

I tried to see how long I could go without washing, and lasted two weeks.
I am now only washing my scalp every other day. I put a quarter sized dab of shampoo in the palm of my hand, wash my scalp, rinse it through, then condition...more the length than the scalp. It is working quite well. My hair is shimmering like gold!!!!
Can we help?

Nyghtfall, can you explain what makes it a hassle? I know my easy hair experience won't be of help for other textures but perhaps there are some things that would make it easier for you the times you do wash.
Oh, and for other readers, don't be discouraged, long hair is not work for everyone. Best thing to do is just grow it as long as you want and see if how it goes for you.
