Slept with my tuque on

Hey all,
I have naturaly wavey hair, but ever since I started to grow my hair, my bangs have a really tight curl near the end. This is abnormal for my type of hair, but it's been like this for the past 4 months. I can probably see how it got that way because when I had my short hair style, I combed my hair up and to the back. Now that my hair is long, it's not used to hanging in the opposite direction!
I've tried everything from frequently combing it, to shampoos and conditioners and even gel. I thought i'd wait several months longer to let my hair grow longer which would give me room to cut the curls off, but instead, last night I decided to just wear my tuque to bed in hopes that it would flatten out the curls. And voila, the curls are almost gone, and my hair feels smoother than ever. It seems as though my natural hair oils were evenly distributed over night, so my hair feels soft, yet still fairly clean.
Has anyone tried this technique? I don't plan on doing this often if sleeping with a tuque on is bad for my scalp. Even so, doing it once a week shouldn't be too bad.
Cheers!

Not sure what a tuque is, but I oftentimes sleep with a bandana or Tam to keep my hair from gettting to be too much of a fright in the mornings. I usually do that on days when I know I won't have time to wet down my hair in the morning.
Same principle as what you're doing, and it works pretty good for me.

I may live in New Mexico now, but I grew up in Canada, and up there, we call a woolen cap a "tuque". I love to drive my wife crazy with such "Canadianisms". I did the same thing when I was growing my hair out. It is best to do this during the wintertime, obviously.
a rose by any other name...
